Haverhill Retirement Board Members and Staff

Chairman, William J. Klueber - Elected for a 3 year term to expire on December 12, 2007.  Retired from the City of Haverhill as City Auditor for 34 years.  Served as Ex-Officio to the Haverhill REtirement Board at that time.  Elected by the membership and retirees.  Board Member since December 12, 2004.

Board Member Ex-Officio, Charles Benevento - as Haverhill City Auditor since March 3, 2003.

Board Member, Donald J. Shea - Retired Deputy Police Chief for the City of Haverhill.  Appointed by James J. Fiorentini, Mayor of the City of Haverhill on April 21, 2004.

Board Member, James Pl. Cleary, III, Esquire.  Appointed as the 5th member of the Board by the other four Board Members for a 3 year term to expire on January 29, 2006.  Board Member since January 3, 1997.

Board Member, Lewis F. Poore, Jr.- Elected July 1, 2005 for a 3 year term.  Deputy Chief of the Haverhill Fire Dept.

Retirement Board Staff

Kathleen E. Gallant Administrator

Responsible for the overall administration of the Haverhill Retirement Systems, including private retirement counseling sessions, employer group retirement education seminars, annual reporting to local, state and federal agencies.  Responsible for the processing of all accidental, ordinary disability and survivor/beneficiary benefits.  Responsible for the oversight of general investment practices, management and performance.  Responsible for the implementation of the M.G.L. c.32 and 840 CMR Rules and Regulation.  Responsible for the minutes of all Board Meetings.  Responsible for the monthly accounting of all financial transactions including: trial balance and monthly financial reporting to PERAC.

Jacquelyn M. Stark, Retirement Assistant

Responsible for the monthly processing of pension payments, federal tax withholding, monthly direct deposit procedure and beneficiary payments and annual cost of living adjustment approved by the Board.  Responsible for reporting 38(c).  Responsible for all correspondece regarding pensioners, i.e. income verification for housing, Social Security etc.  Responsible for udating retirees information, i.e. address changes, beneficiaries, direct deposit changes, etc.

Carol L. LaPierre, Retirement Clerk

Answers all general calls concerning membership and directs calls to other particular retirement staff.  Responsible for enrollment information of all new members, updating members accounts with changes to address, marital status, etc., posting of contributions and refund calculations.  Responsible for re-deposit and makeup payments.  Assists in the day to day questions on membership, refunds and retirements.  Schedules appointments for retirement counseling.  Also responsible for Accounts Payable.
